Matthew van Putten is the federal research manager for GovernmentCIO and the editorial coordinator for GovernmentCIO Media. A graduate of Johns Hopkins SAIS Strategic Studies and International Economics programs, he focuses on anything international—from strategic affairs, Chinese financial markets, or African politics to the impact of technology on international politics and the future US economy.

When not at work, he’s probably out with friends, traveling, reading, or watching hockey or basketball. As a lifelong Vancouver Canucks and LA Lakers fan—he’s sure that even with the loss of the Sedin twins, the Vancouver Canucks will win the Cup at least once in his lifetime, and that the Lakers will win the championship twice in the next 4 years.
